“What do you want to be when you grow up,” nosy Aunt Tilly would ask at every family dinner. Clueless, you’d sigh, roll your eyes, and say, “I want to be the first human on Mars.”
Truth is: what you wanted and needed was a career pathfinder.
Voila! This is Part 3 of the only career pathfinder you’ll ever need–the MentorLoft Career Challenge. These are the same tools and process I’ve used to coach hundreds of folks trying to find the right direction for them in life.
Believe me, this process works. IF you do your homework.
In Part 1, we challenged you to identify what you don’t want to do and to identify your skills. We provided you with free online resources as well as links to some fee-based sites. If you did your homework, you should now have a much deeper understanding of what you bring to the table for an employer.
Then in Part 2, we challenged you to do a deep dive to find out who you really are and what’s most important to you in life. That self-knowledge is vital for you to make smart choices throughout your life.
We also introduced you to Maya, who has a degree in business administration but is bored to tears in her job at an operations department. Maya thinks she really wants to be a chef.
Finally, here in Part 3, we’ll see where Maya’s journey takes her. Will she decide to be a chef, stay in her current job, or find something different?
Afterward, you can download your MentorLoft Career Challenge worksheet and enter your answers from Parts 1 and 2.
See how your choices play out.
In the end, MentorLoft’s career pathfinder will help you be your best self at work and in life. That’s a goal worth going after!
Maya has gathered all her lists and is ready to see what she finds. Which career path will help her be her best self? Score 1-5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 the highest.
How well do Maya’s answers align with each of these jobs/professions?
What do you think about Maya’s results? She sees that she probably wants to get out of her current job since it doesn’t appear to be a good fit for her. But the results in her career pathfinder also indicate she needs to do more research to see which field is the best for her.
She can do this by
